Society of Grownups

Part coffeeshop, part therapy office, part bar, Society of Grownups is a gathering place for people who are ready to get personal about personal finance.

Designed for IDEO in 2013, this concept began with a financial services company’s interest in gaining traction with a Millennial and Gen-Z clientele. The project brief quickly grew to include the creation of a space where younger people can learn about personal finance in an environment that feels comfortable, familiar, and welcoming. The design was developed in models, renderings, and even a full-scale foam-core prototype before being built as a brick-and-mortar establishment in 2014.
