Crane Thesis

Unlikely Creatures for Wood and Plastic

One of the nobler design school traditions recurs each year when younger students assist graduating students with the production of their thesis presentations.  By far, the most fun I ever had on either side of this arrangement came from working with Brad Crane on his thesis project Making It Here.  Brad's project imagines spaces for product design and light manufacturing that fit into and invigorate America's urban residential zones.  It's a compelling vision and one that resonates with my own design interests.  So, when Brad asked me to create a piece of presentation furniture that is part lectern, part model stand, and part television console, I was eager to help.
